Heat-strengthened and tempered glass
We also offer a full line of
heat-strengthened and tempered glass products. When
tempered glass shatters, it disintegrates into small pieces,
reducing the risk of personal injury. Often, bus shelters are
made using tempered glasses. Once tempered, the glass is four
times stronger than annealed glass.
Heat-strengthened glass is twice as strong
as annealed glass, with significantly greater resistance to
thermal loads when compared to annealed glass of equal
thickness.
By combining and layering tempered and
laminated glasses, we can provide a bulletproof glass product.
The multiple coatings of tempered and laminated glasses form a
fully sealed "wall."
Sealed units are among the best performers
in the marketplace. We manufacture sealed units that are
composed of two glass panels separated by a metal spacer
system—creating an interior space filled with an inert,
nonconductive gas such as argon. The addition of this gas layer
improves the insulating value of the unit and makes it more
energy-efficient.
Gas-filled units are finished with a
primary seal of polyisobutylene to provide maximum protection
against moisture vapor transmission. This secure seal has
proven to be an excellent barrier against gas
leakage—although Entreprises Doco uses only gases that
are odorless, colorless, and harmless. A secondary seal is
applied on the outer surface of the spacer system to provide
strength in bonding the glass and metal components. We use a
seal made with either urethane or silicone.
Obviously, the metal spacer can be made
from steel, aluminum, or other products with insulating
properties, which Multiver refers to as "spacers with low
conductibility." We uses a wide range of these products,
after ensuring their performance capabilities.
Sealed units meet CSA standards (CAN/CGSB
12.8), and the company's quality assurance program meets the
requirements of IGMA (Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance),
as well as the organization's certification program.
If customers desire the traditional look of
glass—combined with the clarity and light transmittance
of skylights - we also can provide clear glass products.
High-performance soft-coat reflective
glasses are used in a wide range of architectural projects.
This type of glass is popular because of its longevity and
durability when compared to other glasses. In addition, it has
superior aesthetic properties, allowing architects to achieve
continuity in "curtain wall" applications.
High-performance soft-coat reflective glass
is available in tempered, heat-strengthened, annealed, or
tinted options to meet architects' exact needs and
specifications. Metal coatings, including silver and titanium,
are applied in thin layers within a vacuum chamber, a process
that produces the best reflective qualities.
Depending on the thickness and type of
metal layers applied, Entreprises Doco can supply a more or
less pronounced "mirror" effect—and also can
influence such performance characteristics as visible light
transmittance, shading co-efficient, and solar transmittance.
Multiver's custom solutions allow customers to control the
brightness of interior environments, as well as the use of air
conditioning.
Architects can also choose from a variety
of pyrolytic reflective glass products. In the pyrolytic
manufacturing process, different metals are fused with liquid
glass, making the coating an integral part of the product.
Pyrolytic reflective glass can be tempered to enhance its
strength and resistance.
High-performance low-emissivity glass
If energy savings are a priority,
"Econover" glass products are ideal. These
high-performance low-emissivity glasses feature a thin metallic
layer that reflects infrared light. The low-emissivity coating
reflects furnace heat back into the room during winter
months—a "boomerang effect" that reduces
heating costs during winter months.
High-performance low-emissivity glasses
also minimize solar energy transmittance during summer months,
reducing the use of air conditioning. In addition, the
low-emissivity coating filters out ultraviolet rays, helping to
protect furniture, carpeting, and artwork from sun exposure.
Tinted glass
We also offer tinted glass products,
manufactured by mixing metallic oxides into the melted glass.
The most popular tint colors are green, bronze, gray, and blue.
Tinted glasses reduce air conditioning costs, while also
enhancing aesthetic value.
Glass design options
For those customers who want to "dress
up" their windows, we can introduce colored grids or other
designs into its sealed units. These designs are available in a
wide variety of shapes and colors.
